Kevin Ham, The $300 Million Domain Mogul

I was reading this on CNN Money and I can’t believe this guy slipped past our noses without us knowing it. Kevin Ham has built a $300 million empire and definitely deserves the name of web domain dotcom mogul. How did he do it?

These people are called domain squatters, who profit by buying domains and then either reselling them or in the case of a typo, sells Yahoo ppc ads that often direct users to the web site they intended on going to in the first place. Except that Kevin Ham is a level above the average domain squatters - he writes software to ensure that he buys domains as soon as they are expired.

His latest scheme - Kevin Ham buys .cm domains of popular web domains such as newyorktimes.cm or beer.cm and these generate millions of views every day. These pages directs users to a site called agoga.com, a web portal that composed of Yahoo ads. He partners this venture with the West African contry of Cameroon where they share the revenue earnings.

This really gave insight to me how a simple idea on the internet can actually generate millions of earnings and how these are the things which was never thought of before. Well at least I still have my good ol blogging hobby.
